STF Assam Seizes 350 Quintals of Burmese Supari in Nagaon Truck Interception
Acting on a reliable tip-off, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam carried out a major operation, intercepting a truck carrying an extensive load of undocumented Burmese Supari (areca nuts). The truck, bearing registration number UP 82 AT 9208, was enroute from Dimapur, Nagaland, traveling through Golaghat with its destination set for Madhya Pradesh.
During a comprehensive search at Bagori, located in Nagaon district, STF officials discovered 350 quintals of Burmese Supari concealed within the vehicle. The areca nuts, which lacked the required documentation, were promptly seized by the authorities. In addition, the driver and handyman of the vehicle, who also identified as the vehicle’s owners, were detained on the spot.
All seized materials and the apprehended individuals have since been transferred to the Bagori Patrol Post, where a detailed investigation is underway to determine the origins and intended distribution of the contraband. This interception highlights Assam’s sustained efforts to curb smuggling operations and illegal trade activities across the state.
