Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the crackdown on social media, emphasizing the government’s commitment to protecting vulnerable citizens from unscrupulous lenders.
“In a statewide crackdown, we’ve apprehended 122 individuals,” stated CM Sarma on X. Alongside arrests, the police seized cash, loan agreements, gold jewelry, land mortgage documents, and bank records. The initiative aims to shield the vulnerable poor and middle-class from these exploitative practices.
