Agartala-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express Derails in Assam; No Casualties Reported
Guwahati: The Agartala-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express, train number 12520, met with an accident near Dibralong station, located under the Lumding division. The train was on its journey from Agartala when it derailed around 03:55 PM at the Lumding-Badarpur Hill section.
While a few coaches and the engine of the train went off track, fortunately, no casualties or major injuries were reported, bringing relief to the passengers and officials. The Accident Relief Train and Medical Assistance Team were immediately dispatched from Lumding to the site to supervise the restoration work and ensure the safety of passengers. Senior officials from the division have taken charge of the situation.
Train services on the Lumding-Badarpur single line section have been suspended temporarily to accommodate the rescue and restoration operations. An alternate rake has been arranged to assist the stranded passengers.

As a consequence of the derailment, several trains have been affected. Cancellations, short terminations, rescheduling, and regulations have been announced as follows:
– Cancellations:
– Train No. 05698 (Guwahati – New Jalpaiguri Special), Train No. 05628 (Agartala – Guwahati Summer Special), Train No. 15611/15612 (Rangiya – Silchar Express) have been canceled for journeys commencing on 17th October 2024.
– Train No. 05697 (New Jalpaiguri – Guwahati Special), Train No. 05627 (Guwahati – Agartala Summer Special), Train No. 02525 (Kamakhya – Anand Vihar Terminal Special) and Train No. 15616/15615 (Silchar – Guwahati Express) for journeys starting on 18th October 2024.
– Train No. 02526 (Anand Vihar Terminal – Kamakhya Special) for the journey commencing on 20th October 2024.
– Short Termination:
– Train No. 14619 (Agartala – Firozpur Cantt.) Express will short terminate at Badarpur and remain canceled between Badarpur and Firozpur Cantt.
– Train No. 13174 (Sabroom – Sealdah) Kanchanjunga Express will short terminate at Maibong, and remain canceled between Maibong and Sealdah.
– Train No. 15618 (Dullabcherra – Guwahati) Express will short terminate at New Haflong and remain canceled between New Haflong and Guwahati.
– Rescheduling:
– Train No. 12508 (Silchar – Thiruvananthapuram) Express scheduled to commence its journey on 17th October 2024, has been rescheduled to leave at 06:00 hours on 18th October 2024.
– Regulation:
– Train No. 12503 (SMVT Bengaluru – Agartala) Humsafar Express scheduled to commence its journey on 15th October 2024 will be regulated suitably.
