STF Assam Cracks Down on Drugs in Guwahati, Seizes ₹2.2 Crore Worth of Heroin
Guwahati; April 20, 2025: In a major blow to drug trafficking networks, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam seized heroin worth ₹2.2 crore from Sawkuchi in Guwahati. The operation was conducted on Friday as part of the ongoing fight against illegal drug trade in the region.
During the raid, STF officials recovered 278.28 grams of heroin. The narcotics were packed in multiple containers, ready for distribution. Along with the drugs, police also found ₹1,49,500 in cash, suspected to be linked to the drug trade.
A woman was arrested from the location. She is suspected to be involved in drug peddling. A mobile phone was also seized, which may contain evidence connected to the case.
The STF team carried out the operation based on specific intelligence. The information led them to a residence in the Sawkuchi area. Authorities believe the drugs were being supplied across Guwahati and nearby locations.
