Japan Strengthens Ties with Assam: Speaker Nukaga Fukushiro Visits Lok Sewa Bhawan

Guwahati; May 04, 2025: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed Nukaga Fukushiro, the Speaker of Japan’s House of Representatives, along with a high-level delegation at Lok Sewa Bhawan.

The visit holds major significance as it highlights the growing bond between Japan and Assam. It aligns with India’s Act East Policy, which focuses on boosting connections with Southeast Asian nations.

Earlier this year, CM Sarma’s visit to Tokyo and the launch of Advantage Assam 2.0 laid the groundwork for stronger cooperation. The events opened new avenues for trade, culture, and deeper ties between people of both regions.

During the meeting, discussions centered around building a long-term foundation for future partnerships. Japan’s institutions are expected to play a major role in Assam’s development journey.

Both sides shared their interest in innovation, infrastructure, and investment. They also explored opportunities to work together in education, skill-building, and cultural exchange.

Chief Minister Sarma stressed the state’s readiness to welcome Japanese companies. He said Assam offers the right environment to invest, grow, and thrive.
