Guwahati Police Recovers ₹90 Lakh Stolen Goods, Nabs Three in 24 Hours

₹90 Lakh Worth Goods Recovered by Guwahati Police After Truck Goes Missing
Guwahati; April 30, 2025: In a swift and decisive operation, Guwahati Police recovered stolen cargo worth ₹90 lakh and arrested three suspects within 24 hours. The incident began when a complaint was filed at Basistha Police Station. A six-wheeler truck, registered as AS 13 AC 5860, went missing while transporting goods from Nalapara to Karimganj.
The vehicle, along with its driver, broker, and owner, had vanished. All of them had also switched off their phones, raising immediate suspicion. Acting fast, a team from Basistha PS launched a search operation.
The abandoned truck was soon found near the National Highway at Sonapur. Along with the truck, police detained three suspects—Abdus Salam from Barpeta, Rahim Badshah from Hajo, and Innus Ali from Salmari Sar.
Inside the vehicle, police recovered a significant portion of the stolen cargo. The seized items included:
- 8 tons of Dyna Roof tin sheets
- Two sacks of loose cotton, weighing 40 kg each
- Multiple cartons of gutka
- Over 10,000 paper cups
The investigation didn’t stop there. Further questioning led the police to a godown in Bangalpara under Hajo Police Station. A raid at the location uncovered even more of the missing goods. Items found included:
- 35 cartons of agarbatti
- 13 cartons of tissue rolls
- Plastic buckets
- Tulsi-branded products
- Several other stolen items
The police confirmed that legal action has been initiated against the arrested individuals. Investigations are ongoing to trace any other people involved in the theft.
