Drugs Worth ₹4.5 Crore Seized in Cachar; Police Arrest Two Peddlers in Major Crackdown
May 07, 2025: In a major blow to drug trafficking, Cachar Police seized heroin and opium worth ₹4.5 crore in Salchapra, near Silchar. Acting on specific inputs, officers launched a swift operation and recovered a total of 847 grams of heroin and 4.035 kilograms of opium.
During the bust, two drug peddlers were caught red-handed. Both individuals are currently under custody, and further investigation is ongoing. Authorities suspect the seized narcotics were intended for distribution across the region.
The crackdown underlines Assam Police’s aggressive stance in the ongoing war against drugs. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma responded strongly via social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He stated, “Assam Police is unstoppable and the mission is clear: #AssamAgainstDrugs.”
So, the message from the top remains firm — Assam will not tolerate drug trafficking. Police forces across the state are actively coordinating to root out drug syndicates and protect communities.
